THE HALLWAY BEFORE YOU IS CHOKED WITH PARCHMENT. Digital DIE in a Dungeon released!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Dec 24, 2024 at 04:18:19 PM

Greetings, Dungenerators!

Another quick (but big) one:

The digital version of DIE in a Dungeon has been released!

  • This is the web-based version that you can play in a browser on PlayingCards.io!
  • You should already have files in your BackerKit account if you've filled out your survey (along with an email from BackerKit alerting you about this).
  • You need to put both parts of the archive in the same folder before extracting them! (BackerKit can't handle the full power of these files, so I had to split the archive into 2 parts.)
  • You'll also already find Itch.io keys in your BackerKit account. Instructions are included with the key, but basically: Follow the URL to Itch.io, log in (or create a free account), and claim the key to add it to your account. It's an easier way to download the files whenever you want (including any updates)!
  • All of these files are going to get updated. There will be a lovingly formatted version of the currently rather-ugly rulebook, a Series 2 version with a custom playmat, and all the other stuff that was unlocked via stretch goals. Stay tuned! And with updates in mind,
  • Please help me make the digital and printed versions the best they can be by playing the digital version and reporting any bugs you encounter or suggestions you have. Or just sharing your campaign experience here or on the DUNGENERATORS discord! All of the info I can gather from your experiences is helpful.

Coming up next:

  • I wanted to get GOBLINFINITE out today too, but I'm running out of steam and really want to take tomorrow off. Please be patient with me; I promise the new web version will be worth it (you'll be able to use it on your phone from a URL)!
  • Publishing the print-and-play files of DIE in a Dungeon (minus the rulebook and box) is my next priority,
  • Then finishing the printed quick-start rulebook layout,
  • Then finishing the box design for DIE in a Dungeon (so that the physical version can be printed),
  • Followed by all of the extra tokens and treats and unlockables.

That is all for today! I hope you get a kick out of the digital version, have excellent year-end holidays, and I'll bring you more goodies soon! :D

Cheers,
- Rollin

A SHELF-FUL OF SCROLLS TUMBLES TO THE FLOOR. Status update! Some files!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Dec 23, 2024 at 08:53:35 PM

Greetings, Dungenerators!

A quick update:

  • Surveys have been locked, cards have been charged, and the first of the digital files has been delivered: DUNGENERATOR Series 1 and 2 (VTT and print-and-play), ODD GOBS, ORC BORG, FRAGNAROK, and some bonus token packs (for funzies)!
  • BackerKit double-delivered some files. If you had more than one copy of a digital DUNGENERATOR deck attached to your order (which, because of a foible with BK's backend, was most backers), you've been sent two versions of each of that DUNGENERATOR deck's files. #1 and #2 are the same files! Use either one. Or both, I guess?

Still cooking:

  • DIE in a Dungeon (digital): I'm finalizing the PlayingCards.io file for this latest release and will upload it to BackerKit as soon as possible! I'd like to get your feedback before it goes to print, but either way I'll be making more updates to it in the future. The Series 2 playmat/setting (and eventually Series 3) will be separate versions, all included with your game. So: Don't look for it yet in the pile of files, but it's coming very soon!
  • DIE in a Dungeon (print-and-play): I want these to be as close to the print version as possible, so I'm trying to include some last-minute tinkering with the cards in the print-and-play release. (I think it really only makes sense to update these until the game files go to the printer.) So: Also coming soon!
  • GOBLINFINITE Goblin Generator: I figured out a better way to distribute GOBLINFINITE (a password-protected Itch.io page, so that you can just log in with your phone or browser to use the Zoog Edition on any operating system), but I need to make that separate page, etc. To avoid confusion, I'm going to upload the Windows build of this to BackerKit along with the codes for the Itch page at the same time. Also coming soon!
  • Yes, the Applesaucerer has been unlocked and is being labored upon! Alas; it must, for (I hope) understandable reasons, be the last item on the to-do list for this campaign.

I'm going to have a "lightly working" holiday to get the DIAD files out before the new year. I hope you have a relaxing and refreshing end-o'-the-year, and I'll talk to you again soon!

Stay frosty, Dungenerators!

A THUNDER OF FOOTSTEPS APPROACHES. Orders are being locked!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Dec 19, 2024 at 06:26:56 PM

Greetings, Dungenerators!

Another short-and-informative update:

BackerKit surveys are being locked!

I pressed the "auto-lock in 48 hours" button about [checks notes] 12 hours ago(?), so I should be able to push the "charge cards" button on Saturday.

Friendly reminders:

  • If you haven't filled your survey out yet, please do so! It helps me figure out how many copies of physical rewards to print, and it lets me send you your digital rewards!
If you absolutely can't get to your survey before Saturday, don't worry; you'll still be able to fill it out (just not change it).
  • You'll still be able to change your address until addresses are locked (which will happen in a few months, and before which I'll give you ample warning).
  • Shipping costs won't be charged on Saturday; that'll happen after addresses are locked, too, and right before shipping actually starts.
  • Digital rewards will start arriving in your inbox once surveys are locked! PDFs of DUNGENERATOR decks and add-on games will arrive first, then the digital DIE in a Dungeon, then the print-and-play Die in a Dungeon. They'll be arriving first via BackerKit, but I'll also send out Itch.io / DriveThruRPG / Roll20 / etc. keys for some rewards.

Something Fun, As A Treat:

I'm continuing my narrative playthrough of DIE in a Dungeon over on all of the various social media platforms, as well as the "wilderness" channel of the discord. If you're curious what that looks like, come on down! (And if you've got cool experiences to share from your playthrough of the digital beta, please show me!)

As always, let me know if you have any questions about the game or the whole survey/BackerKit/fulfillment process. Or feel free to just say hi!

Short and informative (as promised),
- Rollin

AN ENLARGED CORVID BARKS AN ENCOURAGING SPEECH. Survey reminder!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Dec 16, 2024 at 01:19:36 PM

Greetings, Dungenerators!

We're a week past surveys being sent, and we're almost to the point where I can lock orders and charge cards (and then deliver the digital files). BackerKit reports 86% responses; I think 90% feels pretty safe to me. So: I'm just going to give stragglers a couple more days and then put out the 48-hour "orders are about to be locked" message.

In short:

  • Please go ahead and fill out your survey if you haven't! You should definitely already have it in your inbox. It'll be from BackerKit, and should mention me (ROLLINKUNZ) and the project (The DUNGENERATOR: DIE in a Dungeon), if you need some keywords to search for.
  • You will still be able to change your address after you fill out your survey. Addresses are not being locked until just before shipping starts (next year).
  • You will not be charged for shipping yet. Shipping will be charged after addresses are locked, and I'll give you a warning before that happens.
  • Digital files will start to be released after cards are charged. I'm going to release the print-and-play Series 1 and 2 DUNGENERATOR decks, then the digital add-on games/PDFs, then the web version of DIE in a Dungeon, and finally the print-and-play DIE in a Dungeon. So: Expect a sort of "advent calendar" of files in the next few weeks!

Okay, I told myself to keep this short, but I also wanted to give a shout-out to the backers that have been helping me figure out BoardGameGeek and its many mysteries! I've used BGG for years, but I've finally had to make a publisher account and figure out how to submit my own game to it, and it turns out that takes some research and practice. I really appreciate your help while I learn it! Please reach out with any questions here or on the BGG page or on the discord. I'll be keeping an eye on all of these myriad web-channels!

Another update will be coming soon!
Until then,
- Rollin

A MISSIVE ARRIVES FROM A FAR-OFF LAND. BackerKit surveys are out!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Dec 09, 2024 at 07:57:32 PM

Greetings, Dungenerators!

Another quick update just to let you know that

BACKERKIT SURVEYS HAVE BEEN SENT!

  • You should now have an email from BackerKit with a link pointing you towards your survey! If not, go here

...and enter your email address to recover your survey.

  • Please fill out your survey as soon you can. You'll be able to change your address (and your order) up until I lock the surveys, so don't worry if you're moving soon- just fill it out! If you don't fill out your survey, you can't get your rewards!

  • Shipping will be charged later, right before your rewards are shipped. This is to make sure shipping costs are accurate and fair.

  • If you have any questions or something seems wrong with your survey, please reach out and let me know! You can send me a message or drop a comment below. If it's a thing that's probably best fixed by a BackerKit support person (like a website glitch), click on the "Need Help?" button in BackerKit and they'll set things right.

The updates that follow should be more exciting and full of actual, you know, updates, but I think it's best to focus on filling out these surveys for now.

But! I'm hard at work preparing all the digital files (the ready-to-go DUNGENERATOR Series ones, the digital DIE in a Dungeon, the print-and-play DIAD, and finally, the actual print files for manufacturing), so expect some cool stuff soon!

Cheers,
- Rollin
